Bright-black flake or grain, insoluble in water and alcohol. It is the green-black colour when it soluble in solution of sodium sulfide.

Sulphur black dye are widely used for dyeing and winding dyeing on cotton, jute, viscose, polyvinyl alcohol fibre and polyester, polyamide fibre, specially used for rolling dyeing.
